Canadian producer Jim Demos, aka Hellenica, works with many different styles. From dark ambient electronics and spaghetti-western guitar tones to old tape recorded dystopian soundtracks. Hellenica has produced 4 releases: They Are Out For Blood (2012), Blood Moon Wolf Head (2014) released independently, followed by with Forms (2016) and Land of No Return (2017) released on the Jeunesse Cosmique label.
The newest release “Land Of No Return” has more of a retro futuristic sound reminiscent of sci fi movies of the 70’s and 80’s. The recording was mastered through an old 1970’s Denon reel to reel tape machine that was found in a thrift shop in Saint Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. The hiss and tape flutter remain in all their glory.
Hellenica has performed at Pop Montreal Festival 2016 and 2013, Wavelength Toronto, The FAM Festival Windsor, Psych-fest Montreal. In November of 2016 Hellenica toured Europe with performances at Worm.orgin Rotterdam, Madam Claude in Berlin, Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum in Groningen, Neu in Kassel and Rote Flora in Hamburg.
Hellenica is originally from Winnipeg, Canada and is based in Montreal for the past 9 years. The artist will be touring Europe in May 2018.
—–Gabriele Panico & Saverio Rosi : Radiotecnica (ITALY)——
Radiotecnica are Italian composers Saverio Rosi and Gabriele Panico performing a live set of electroacoustic improvisation. Tapes, mics, inputs and generators are trying to build a suite that links the textures of contemporary music to the changing melodic forms of free jazz. The title pays tribute to the pioneering European radio studies, avant-garde broadcasts and production of experimental music like Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln, Studio di Fonologia RAI Milan, and GRM (Groupe de Recherche Musicale) – Paris.
